This is happening right now in my country Venezuela. All around the country Militaries are killing people just because we are defending what is Good. We want justice! We were doing a pacific protest and then they came and started to shoot and use gas against people and the government says that people need to show respect for the militaries.  People are being seriously injured and murdered. Respect? Democracy? Peace? NICOLAS YOU ARE NOT MY PRESIDENT YOU COWARD.

GUYS PLEASE RB, I KNOW THAT EVERYONE IS WORRIED ABOUT WHAT’S HAPPENING IN BOSTON BUT WE ARE ABOUT TO GO ON A CIVIL WAR IN VENEZUELA!!

THEY JUST MADE MADURO TAKE THE OATH AS PRESIDENT, THEY’RE BURNING THE BALLOT BOXES, AND THEY’RE LEAVING THE COUNTRY WITH ALL THE PEOPLE’S MONEY

Let’s add to that that no International entity recognizes the election’s results and are asking for a recount, yet the CNE allowed Maduro to take the oath (wich was supposed to be on the 19th). The CNE’s president is leaving the country now.

We’re officially in a dictatorship.

Street level view of the explosions at the Boston Marathon

I can’t even begin to imagine the panic that will fill my blood in this situation, the explosion seems so surreal. I hope those hurt in these explosions recover well and for those fatalities rest easy. People in this world do some sickly things to other beings.

this is so sad.. i can’t watch this more than once.

:(

This made me sick to my stomach. wtf is wrong with the world man. We are all people why can’t we all just get along and love each other.

Students And Riot Police Clash In Montreal After Tuition Hike Is Announced

Hours after Quebec Premier Pauline Marois declared that student unrest is “behind us,” tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets of Montreal to denounce a planned three-per-cent tuition fee hike.

At least 13 arrests were made according to media sources.

The protest, organized by radical student union ASSE, was immediately declared illegal by police as they blocked off roads and public transporation was re-routed.

Student leaders said they felt betrayed by Marois, who wrapped up a two-day summit on higher education by announcing a plan to increase tuition by $70 per year, or roughly $350 over the first five years.

Marois’s Parti Quebecois government had nixed the previous Liberal government’s efforts to raise the tuition fee by $1,625 over five years – a plan that sparked sometimes violent protests in Montreal, Quebec City and other parts of Quebec last year.

ASSE, which boycotted the education summit, demanded free tuition across the province during Tuesday’s protest.

Regular nightly demonstrations are also being planned for next week.

What’s worse is police officers haven’t tried to stop them and some of the hospitals’ staff even cooperate with them.

Racist and xenophobic sentiments within a society are always exploited and even promoted by fascists during an economic crisis. Rather than blaming the plutocrats, corrupt politicians and corporate greed for a country’s economic decline, fascists will blame PoC, religious minorities and immigrants in order to gain sociopolitical power.

There’s the intelligent explanation. ^^^^

Once this landscape was a pristine wilderness roamed by deer now it’s ‘the most destructive industrial project on earth’

by Mark Duell

  • Lush green forests once blanketed an area of the Tar Sands at Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, larger than England.
  • Area where blackened earth now stands dubbed by environmentalists as most destructive industrial project on earth.
  • Boreal forest - once home to grizzly bears, moose and bison - is vanishing at rate second to Amazon deforestation.

These incredible pictures show the bleak landscape of bitumen, sand and clay created by the frantic pursuit of 173billion barrels of untouched oil.  The Tar Sands in Alberta, Canada, are the world’s third largest oil reserve - but lush green forests once blanketed an area there larger than England.  The region where the blackened earth now stands has been dubbed as the most destructive industrial project on earth by shocked environmentalists.

Millions of barrels of tar sands oil have been extracted from underground - producing five times as many greenhouse gas emissions as normal extraction.  And the Boreal forest - once home to grizzly bears, moose, bison, deer and wolverines - is vanishing at a rate only second to Amazon deforestation.  Photographer Ashley Cooper said: ‘I knew a lot about the tar sands before I went there but nothing prepared me for the impact of actually seeing it…

Idle No More Gaining Momentum and Forming Plan of Action
International Human Rights Day was December 10 and marked the beginning of what has since become a stand of solidarity between Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island and allies known as Idle No More.
Idle No More is a movement to assert indigenous sovereignty, and to work towards sustainable, renewable development. The movement began in response to Canadian Bill C-45, the government’s omnibus budget implementation bill, that includes changes to land management on reservations which critics feel would enable Canada to control reserves. Along with other areas limiting the control of First Nations in their own territories.
Since the movement began on December 10 as reported by Indian Country Today Media Network, flash mobs and Round Dances continue to take place in Canada but have also sprouted up in Seattle, Washington; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Minneapolis, Minnesota; and even internationally in Europe, New Zealand and the Ukraine.
As flash mobs and support continue to grow around the world, back where it all began, Attawapiskat First Nation chief Theresa Spence continues her hunger strike protest now reaching 16 days. In the United States, Mishkomekinaak Ikwe began a journey from International Falls, Minnesota on her way to Washington, D.C. today. Ikwe is leading a car caravan to D.C. to urge President Barack Obama to call on Stephen Harper to meet with chief Spence and end her hunger strike.
The caravan began with Ikwe exchanging staffs with First Nations people in International Falls.
“Idle No More calls on all people to join in a revolution which honors and fulfills Indigenous sovereignty and which protects the land and water. Colonization continues through attacks to Indigenous rights and damage to the land and water, which affects all people,” an Idle No More press release states. “Idle No More calls on all of us to repair these violations, live the spirit and intent of the treaty relationship, work towards justice in action, protect Mother Earth, and create sustainable, healthy communities.”
As the caravan is getting underway, other protests are in the works. A flash mob and Round Dance is planned for tomorrow, December 28, at Washington Square Park in New York City at 3 p.m (RSVP). Another event tomorrow, is a flash mob in Sacramento, California, on the West Steps of the State Capitol at noon and again in downtown Sacramento at 2 p.m. Then on Saturday, December 29, at Cherry Creek Mall in Denver, Colorado another Round Dance is planned for 1:30 p.m. One of the most recent flash mobs was Wednesday, December 26 at the Southern Hills Mall in Sioux City, Iowa.

WASHINGTON VOTERS HAVE AGREED TO LEGALIZE THE RECREATIONAL USE OF MARIJUANA

Washington voters have voted to legalize recreational use of marijuana.

Initiative 502 held a commanding lead in initial vote counts, with overwhelming support in King County, and the measure was passing in other urban Puget Sound counties Pierce, Spokane and other counties.

One ounce of marijuana will be legal as of Dec. 6, and the state will begin a year-long process of creating a closed, tightly regulated and heavily taxed market for recreational marijuana sales at state-licensed retail shops.

Cop Shoots 10-Year-Old Boy With Taser For Refusing To Clean Patrol Car

anarcho-queer:

“Career day” at Tularosa New Mexico Intermediate School went terribly wrong after a 10-year-old boy says a police officer used his Taser gun to show him what cops do to people who don’t follow orders.

Officer Chris Webb of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety is being sued in court after allegedly using his Taser-brand stun gun on a school playground to send 50,000 volts of electricity into a young boy’s body, forcing the child to blackout.

According to the complaint filed on behalf of the child, “Defendant Webb asked the boy, R.D., in a group of boys, who would like to clean his patrol unit,” when the officer came to the school earlier this year. “A number of boys said that they would. R.D., joking, said that he did not want to clean the patrol unit.”

Defendant Webb, the complaint suggests, responded by pointing his Taser at R.D. and saying, ‘Let me show you what happens to people who do not listen to the police.’’ The officer then allegedly fired two barbs from the device at the child’s chest, penetrating his shirt.

Instead of calling emergency medical personnel, Officer Webb pulled out the barbs and took the boy to the school principal’s office, the complaint continues. When he attempted to remove the weapon attached to his skin, though, the 100-pound child passed out. Since then, he has been left with scars that are described in court as resembling cigarette burns.

A representative for the child says the boy has been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder since the incident occurred on May 4.

“The boy, R.D., has woken up in the middle of the night holding his chest, afraid he is never going to wake up again,” guardian ad litem Rachel Higgins tells the court.

No reasonable officer confronting a situation where the need for force is at its lowest, on a playground with elementary age children, would have deployed the Taser in so reckless a manner as to cause physical and psychological injury, Higgins adds.

Higgins is now suing the New Mexico Department of Public Safety and Officer Webb on behalf of the child in Santa Fe County Court, where she seeks punitive damages for the boy for battery, failure to render emergency medical care, excessive force, unreasonable seizure, and negligent hiring, training, supervision and retention, Courthouse News reports.
